Our expertise in solving energy efficiency related problems and presenting innovative solutions is what makes the Electronics group an essential part of numerous research projects in collaboration with industry.

In the Electronics group we conduct research in power electronics on physics-, component-, and system levels ranging from mega-Watt to milli-Watt power converters.

We are the world research leaders within:

  • Switch-mode (class-D) audio power amplifiers
  • Piezoelectric transformer based switch-mode power supplies
  • High efficiency fuel cell power converters

Research fields

Currently, our research is focused within the areas: Fuel-cell power converters, switch-mode power supplies and technologies, class-D switch-mode audio power amplifiers, as well as on piezoelectric transformer based power supplies.

In each of the focus areas we have several PhD students collaborating with industrial partners on different applications.

These focus areas can be divided into the fields of:

  • Power electronics & switch-mode power technology
    The technology associated with the efficient conversion, control and conditioning of electrical power from its available input form into the desired electrical output form.
  • Signal conditioning, analog & mixed-mode IC design

    The manipulation of an analogue signal in such a way that it meets the requirements of the next stage for further processing. And 

    miniaturized electronic circuits, which are used in almost all electronic equipment in use today and have revolutionized the world of electronics.
